Installing a Source Distribution

This section describes how to compile and install CUPS on your system from the source code.

Getting the CUPS Source Code

The CUPS source code is provided on the included CD-ROM. For a typical Linux system you will need to run the following commands to access the source code

mount /mnt/cdrom ENTERtar xvzf /mnt/cdrom/cups/cups-version-source.tar.gz ENTER

where version is the version of CUPS that is on the CD-ROM.
