Airfoil Characteristics

Airfoil development is discussed in Section 5.2 and the associated theoretical fundamentals are developed in Appendix C. For illustrative purposes, data on airfoil lift, drag and moment coefficients are presented for several selected NACA 6-series airfoils taken from the summary of data for over 120 NACA airfoils reported by Abbott et al. (1945) and Abbott and von Doenhoff (1959). The format used for the data shown here is typical of that often available for airfoils. An exhaustive catalog of airfoil data from many different sources is available in UIUC (2013).
