Creating a Console Session

Before you can configure the router, you must create a console session with the router. As you learned in the section on cabling from the PC to the router, this can be done either by directly connecting to the console port with a console cable or by connecting to the router over the network. In this section, you'll review the console connection procedure that you learned in the preceding chapter and explore a more detailed explanation of connecting via the Telnet program. Finally, you will learn about handling the initial screens you will encounter with either method.
