FCoE Speed

Rapid progress in the speed increase of Ethernet networks versus a slower pace of speed increase in the traditional Fibre Channel networks makes FCoE a compelling technology for high throughput storage-area networks.

During the time of writing this book, rarely do Fibre Channel connections from the endpoints to the first hop FCoE switches exceed the speed of 8 Gb. At the same time, server CNAs and FCoE storage arrays offer at least 10 Gb FCoE connectivity speeds.
