1. What’s In the Box?

Did you know LEGO makes a programmable robot? Of course you did. That’s why you bought this book. The EV3 is the third generation of MINDSTORMS, replacing the NXT 2.0. This version has a smarter processor, new sensors, and lots to love. In Chapter 4, “Building Your First Bots,” I’ll go over a few of the robots you can build right away with the EV3 home edition, but for now we’ll start looking at the items that come in the box.

Figure 1.1 shows the EV3 retail box.
