Giving Cells Names

Although addresses are a very powerful mechanism for writing formulas, they are difficult to remember. Luckily, there is a way to make your life easier. OpenOffice.org Calc lets you name each cell or whole groups of cells and use those names instead of addresses. This is how you go about doing it:

  1. Select the cell you want to name.
  2. Choose Insert images Names images Define.
  3. Type the cell name (such as Total) into the Name field in the Define Names dialog box (see Figure 2-2).
