2. Project: Backscratcher Bot
Let’s face it, the LEGO Mindstorms NXT set is really big and kind of intimidating if you’re just getting started. Getting from opening the box to having a functional robot can be a leap, and I bet some users never even make it that far.
With the Backscratcher Bot shown in Figure 2.1, however, we’re simplifying the build down to the point where it’ll be a breeze for anyone to tackle this project. Not only is this a simple robot, but we’ll skip the programming step—for now—so you can have a working robot within minutes. How is this accomplished? We’ll use the NXT brick’s menu system to control the motor without uploading a program first.
