On architectural photography in general
At first glance, architecture appears to be an easy subject—buildings don’t move, don’t need to be given instructions, and are available at all hours of the day and night (fig. 268). The tricky part of the job is endowing an inanimate object with life. Architectural photography is not about simple documentation. It comprises much more than merely capturing buildings and structures photographically. Photographers have to get to know their subjects well enough to make familiar objects appear extraordinary.
