Chapter 7. Application Layer

Introduction

The application layer consists of application objects (endpoints), which hold user applications and ZigBee device objects (ZDOs). Figure 7.1 shows the application layer. A node can have a maximum of 240 application objects, ranging in function from home control lighting to heating and cooling of the home. The endpoints are addressed from 1 to 240; addresses 241 to 254 are reserved for future use, and address 255 is used as the broadcast address. Endpoint address 0 is assigned to the ZDO. Each endpoint can have one application profile.
