Desktops, laptops, mobile devices, tablets, music players—we access our digital assets using a variety of devices. As you plan for the digital afterlife, consider the contents of your devices first.

You use your devices to access two types of content—information that’s stored locally on your computer and information that’s stored elsewhere on the Internet. Five years ago most (if not all) of your content was stored on your devices, but today more and more of it is stored on the Internet.
