Case 9: Currency

When money is the only currency one finds important, in the long run he (or she) is apt to be shortchanged. The authors would side with Ralph and build a case in the discussion that those who select careers in harmony with their values often come out ahead financially, too, because they build stronger human ties and remain more positive. Those who stay true to their values often enhance their leadership qualities (they gain more respect from followers) and, as a result, qualify for higher-paying positions. There is no documented evidence that those who deal only in the currency of money wind up with more of it.
