You are constantly bombarded through media advertising to improve your image. Most messages state that only with a “new look” can you find acceptance and meet new friends.

“Discover the new you. Join our health club and expand your circle of friends.”

“Let cosmetic surgery help you find a new partner.”

Self-improvement of any kind should be applauded. However, the overriding reason for a “new image” is not to look better for others, but for yourself. When you improve your appearance, you give your positive attitude a boost. It is not what happens outside that counts, but how your mind sees yourself.
