There are two basic paths to a top management position. One is to join and stay with a large organization, climbing the ladder of success rung by rung. The other is to move from one company to another, improving your position with each move. Those who prefer to move up within the same organization are stabilizers. Those who prefer the zigzag route are scramblers.
