Teasing
The teasing of a new employee is often nothing more than a way of helping the person become a full-fledged member of the group. It is a form of initiation rite that will help you feel you belong. Sometimes it is a group effort in which everyone participates. More often, however, it is an individual matter. Teasing, for the most part, is harmless.
The shop foreman who never had the advantage of a college education, but who has learned considerably from practical experience, might enjoy teasing a recent graduate of an engineering school. If the graduate engineer goes along with the teasing, a sound relationship between the two should develop.
