Jeff, a hard-working specialty upholsterer, was one of several employees in a small manufacturing unit where productivity depended upon the close cooperation of everyone. Jeff had high potential and lived up to it, producing more than anyone in the unit. But Jeff liked to work alone, and he seldom volunteered to help his fellow workers.
