Build a value pattern IN A PAINTING

Keep in mind that the value pattern is the structure that holds a painting together and the details merely entertain. Viewers notice the entertainment, but seldom recognize the pattern holding it all together. That's OK. No one notices your skeleton either, and it holds you together, provides support for all your details and gives you mobility.

In this demonstration, we'll take a rather complicated outdoor scene and simplify it with a value pattern. Once this pattern is in place, we'll add just enough detail to enhance the scene without boring the viewer by spelling everything out.
