Chapter 9

The Internet of Things and the (not so) Smart Grid

Abstract

This chapter examines cloud computing and the internet of things. It reveals the many privacy transgressions of sensor networks, the lack of back security built in, and discusses smart meters and smart cities at length. It comes up with two ideas to improve the situation: personal responsibility for data, and smartphones as configurable data repositories.
