I have always believed entertaining clients to be a good thing. Many big companies, however, have strict policies governing what is acceptable and what is not in this arena. Some companies, such as Wal-Mart, prohibit suppliers and service providers from entertaining their employees. Always understand and respect your client’s entertainment policies, but whenever it is acceptable and possible, use entertainment as a means to further develop your business relationship with a client.
