Is It Them . . . or Us?

Pogo, the cartoon character drawn by Walt Kelly, famously said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” It is painful to discover that sometimes the reason we get NO from others has less to do with them than it does with us! Much to our consternation, we find that we frequently get in our own way in our quest for YES.

So let’s turn our attention from others and focus on ourselves. Let’s look at how we can improve our ability to maximize our chances of finding YES sooner and easier. The following pages provide an opportunity for self-awareness and learning how we can become more skillful at negotiating NO and more effective at finding YES.
