XSL includes a large number of properties that assist with the audible presentation of material (taken directly from the CSS version 2 specification). Speech presentation is important, not just to those who are visually disabled but also to anyone who cannot switch visual attention from some other task, such as driving a vehicle.

The Speak attribute is used to render text audibly when given the value 'normal' (the default), or 'spell-out'. The 'spell-out' option is used to pronounce text such as XSL, by spelling out each letter; 'X', 'S', 'L'. A value of 'none' suppresses audible presentation of the content.
