Chapter 17. XSL

At the heart of the original XSL proposal was a scheme for styling XML documents. Most of the discussion up to this point has focused on the now separate XSLT standard for manipulating content. While this capability can be used to format a document using other formatting languages (such as HTML), it was originally intended to prepare material for styling using XSL.

Note that XSL is a large and complex standard. While all XSL elements are introduced in this chapter, some of the more obscure attributes they may include are not completely described, are mentioned only briefly, or are not covered at all.
