If you've ever called a technical support line or tried to track a package you're expecting, you've no doubt run into voice response applications that ask you to press 1 for this or 2 for that. Interactive speech applications, or voice applications, are a more advanced version of voice response applications, interpreting spoken responses from the user as well as generating speech from text. The combination of these two features allows you to write code that completely drives an interactive speech application.
