If you've ever called a technical support line or tried to track a package you're expecting, you've no doubt run into voice response applications that ask you to press 1 for this or 2 for that. Interactive speech applications, or voice applications, are a more advanced version of voice response applications, interpreting spoken responses from the user as well as generating speech from text.
