Summary

This chapter has introduced you to one of the earliest XML vocabularies, Channel Definition Format (CDF). CDF was created by Microsoft to support channels, which are hierarchies of Web pages that can be updated automatically. With CDF, users can subscribe to channels and then receive notifications or automatic updates whenever content in a channel changes. CDF is a really good example of an XML application because it is already accepted and in widespread use, unlike many other XML vocabularies that are still in the developmental stages.
