SMIL Players and Authoring Tools

As with all XML content, SMIL documents aren't of much use without some sort of software with which to view them. Additionally, it can be very helpful to use visual authoring tools to create complex SMIL documents, as opposed to cranking them out by hand. The next couple of sections will explore some of the available SMIL viewers and authoring tools available as of this writing.
