Summary

It isn't too surprising that IBM, a strong proponent of Java, also quickly became a strong advocate of XML. In fact, IBM's alphaWorks group has been busy using XML since its inception. The efforts of the alphaWorks group have culminated in a suite of XML tools that perform some interesting tasks related to the access and manipulation of XML documents. These tools are all written in Java and are therefore available for use on practically any computing platform.

This chapter explored some of the more interesting tools that have emerged from IBM's alphaWorks group. These tools can do anything from searching, viewing, and validating XML documents to translating, differentiating, and merging document data. Most of the tools are works in progress, ...
