There is a consensus among Web developers that although HTML has served a vital purpose in making the Web what it is today, something must be done about the future. More specifically, there needs to be some kind of long-term solution to the lack of structure in HTML documents, which has led to poor coding, browser leniency, and proprietary browser extensions.
