The Future of XML Schema

Although Internet Explorer 5.0's implementation of XML Schema certainly provides a practical means of working with document schemas, it still falls short of meeting the goals of the W3C's XML Schema working draft. The full feature set of XML Schema, as proposed by the W3C, will dramatically change the way we all think of XML document structure. Two of the major features described in the XML Schema working draft that aren't currently supported in Internet Explorer 5.0 are element inheritance and constrained data types.
