Summary

Seventy-five percent of all Web applications today access databases. It's clear that XML will be stored and returned from database products, whether they be simple products such as DB2XML or full-featured databases such as those provided by Oracle. There are still a number of outstanding issues concerning XML and how it will be queried. Many interesting proposals are still being debated and it will be some time before a clear winner emerges. Once thing is certain: XML, XML queries, and databases will be part of future Web-enabled applications.
