Chapter 19: A Comparison of Database Approaches for Storing XML Documents
Cosima Schmauch is a full professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe, Germany. She has been teaching software engineering, distributed systems, and knowledge-based systems since she joined the university in 1991. Her research interests lie in developing distributed systems with CORBA and Web Services, storing XML in different kinds of databases, and applying game theory to negotiating software agents. She has previously worked for several companies as a consultant for knowledge-based systems. She holds a diploma in computer science from the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken and a Ph.D. in computer science from the Universität Kaiserslautern.
