Paul G. Brown works for IBM Research in Almaden, California. Before that he worked for Informix Software. He has worked on databases and DBMS-related technologies for about 10 years. He is responsible for eliminating bugs in three (trying for four) DBMS engines. He is the author of Object-Relational Database Development: A Plumber's Guide (Prentice-Hall, 2001), the coauthor of Object-Relational DBMS: Tracking the Next Great Wave (Morgan Kaufmann Publishers, 1999), and has been a contributor to several other books on database topics. He remains puzzled by XML.
