qualified name

An element or attribute name that includes a namespace prefix, to ensure that it is unique when mixed among markup from other namespaces.

quantity indicator

The number of times an element may appear at a given point in the document structure is governed by a special symbol, '?' (optional), '+' (repeatable) or '*' (optional and repeatable). When no symbol is present, the element is required and may not repeat. For example, '(title,para+)' indicates a required Title element, followed by at least one Paragraph element.
