Chapter 30. URLs

A standard scheme for locating documents on local and remote computer systems, and particularly over the Internet, is essential to the practical use of XML. URLs are used in numerous places in the XML standard and in other, related standards such as Xlink and XInclude. But they are often misunderstood and used incorrectly, thus causing software errors and preventing a successful link to the remote resource.
