Chapter 26. Managing XML documents

Many XML documents have a long or repeating life-cycle between creation and obsolescence. Apart from general issues of document management that apply to all types of electronic document, the XML language has features which may be utilized by software designed to simplify the creation and long-term management of documents. This chapter describes the options available, from the simplest use of operating system directory structures, public entities and catalogues to the most sophisticated document management systems.
