Improved selection options

Some obvious holes in the element selection capabilities of CSS have been filled in the new version. It is now possible to select an element that is the direct child of another specified element, that is immediately preceded by another specified element, or that is the first child of its parent. In addition, attribute values can be taken into consideration.

Wildcards

The '*' symbol is used as a 'wildcard', substituting for every element in the document, and also for any number of embedded element levels. However, unlike the XML use of this character in DTDs, it represents one or more descendants (not zero or more).
