Display properties

There are a number of additional properties that are used to distinguish between block and in-line elements, identify lists and list items, and elements in which multiple spaces must be preserved.

These properties are not essential for working in HTML, where the names of relevant elements in each category are hard-wired into HTML-aware Web browsers. But they are vital for working with XML. The 'display', 'white-space', 'list-style-type', 'list-style-image', 'list-style-position' and 'list-style' properties are therefore discussed later, when exploring important XML-specific features of CSS.
