Complex requirements

Stylesheet languages that deal only with straightforward textual concepts such as headers, paragraphs and lists can be complex enough, but long experience with SGML-based publishing systems has shown just how demanding the formatting task becomes when tables, graphics and mathematical formulae are also involved.
