Chapter 14. Schemas

A number of new, more powerful alternatives to the XML DTD have recently emerged. Most notably, this includes the XML Schema standard, which is introduced and compared with DTDs in this chapter, and further explored in the next. The XML Schema standard relies heavily upon namespaces (see Chapter 10), and one feature also relies upon the XPath standard (see Chapter 13).
