Chapter 7. Hypertext links

The ability to link one part of a document to another part is a fundamental feature of electronic document publishing, and is also an important information modelling technique. This chapter covers the linking features provided by the XML standard. Advanced requirements will require the more extensive capabilities provided by the XLink adjunct standard (Chapter 27), and perhaps also the XPointer standard (Chapter 28).
