DTD writing tools

The XML tags used to construct a DTD have a complex syntax that hinders DTD authoring. It is far too easy to make a mistake when generating the necessary markup, or to create an incorrect document model that allows elements to appear where they should not (or not appear where they should).

There are products that can overcome these problems. They hide the markup behind a visual interface that reveals the hierarchical structures in the model. The author receives visual feedback on the document model as it is built, is prevented from making many mistakes, and the software generates the necessary markup when the model is complete.
