Style conventions

Names or terms that appear in bold style have specific meaning within XML or related technologies, and appear in bold typeface on their first significant occurrence, and thereafter whenever their roles are further defined. They are described in the Glossary (except for model-specific element and attribute names and default values), and each occurrence is referenced in the Index.

Example data appears 'in this style'. Larger examples are separated from the text thus:

For the sake of brevity, examples often include an indication of omitted material using '…', which often represents essential material, or appears where text is not allowed by the XML standard, so should never be considered to be a valid part ...
