Throughout this book I've talked about XML and relational databases and how the two technologies are related. In this chapter, I want to take you down one more level and look at some specific ways in which XML and relational databases can be highly integrated. I'm going to use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as an example of one of many available relational database servers that ship with features that provide many ways to integrate XML documents with relational databases. So put on your greasy overalls because we're going to take a look under the hood and poke around an XML-friendly database engine.
