HTML forms were introduced to the World Wide Web in 1993. They and, more recently, XHTML forms, perform a pivotal role on many Web sites in the transmission of information from users of the World Wide Web to a variety of Web-based service providers.
The ubiquitous registration form, whatever its irritations on some sites, is an effective means of transmitting relevant personal information to permit registration on a Web site or to make online purchases.
