Xcode 4 is a tool for building applications that use features from the most recent operating systems (OS) for the Mac and iPhone/iPad. To the first readers of this book, that means Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7; and iOS 5.1. Xcode 4 doesn’t support earlier software-development kits (SDKs) or PowerPC. (And you cannot test PowerPC apps on a Lion machine.)
