Summary

This chapter presented an overview of the design philosophy of, and patterns on, Xamarin target platforms. The design elements section outlined the main controls and layouts that are at the disposal of designers and developers while providing various content display strategies. There were additional sections about interactive and modern user interface design.

Even though each platform provides its own UI design patterns and guidelines, the main focus of the design effort in a cross-platform application is to find an optimal compromise between native look-and-feel and application brand design.

In the next chapter, we will discuss the Xamarin.Forms framework and make use of the correlation between the design elements that are outlined here. ...
