You can control what printer a file goes to, cancel print jobs, or monitor the print queue.

Once a file has been converted to PostScript, you can’t control the resulting output, but you can control what printer it goes to and how many copies are printed. You can also cancel print jobs, and monitor a job’s progress on a printer queue.

There are, of course, some parts of the print process that aren’t under your control as a user. An application, print command, printer daemon, or even the physical printer itself might not work as it is supposed to, over the entire computer system. If the problem is a systemwide one (other than running out of paper or toner), you’ll probably need help to solve it.

However, when you have trouble printing , it’s often something that you can solve on your own.
