Quick Reference: contacting your administrator

Include this information

When sending email or leaving a written note for your administrator, try to include the following information:

  • Describe the problem clearly. Don’t just say that a program is “acting weird,” but show exactly what you typed and exactly what symptoms there were.

  • List any messages that you saw verbatim. Copy them down or copy and paste them into email.

  • What were you doing when this happened? Have you done anything unusual recently? Have you noticed anything else out of the ordinary?

  • Did you try anything to fix the problem?
