Acknowledgments
This book has been in the making for a very long time and so my acknowledgments date back to 1995, when I was asked to teach my first Writing Intensive Curriculum (WIC) course at Oregon State University. Due to a university-wide mandate, every undergraduate was required to take a WIC course in his or her major. Suddenly, my comfort zone of teaching graphic design was challenged by the task of how to bring more writing into the classroom.
