Who Is Your Favorite Child?

Think about your company's goals. If you have written them down somewhere, don't look. Take out, or draw, a blank Emergenetics Template. (There is one at the end of this chapter for you to copy.) Label each area of the template. Do not worry about dividing the spectrums of the behavioral attributes into thirds – just use Expressiveness, Assertiveness, and Flexibility.

Now go find other people who will remember the company's goals, such as your administrative assistant, or the operations manager, or the vice president of human resources. Ask them if you left out anything. If you are like most CEOs, you probably did. We tend to remember those goals that pique our own thinking and behavioral attributes. You may have left out something that is not immediately important to you, but it might be very important to your employees, or your customers, or your company.
