Chapter 15. Handling the Client Approach

If you let it happen, potential clients can waste a lot of your time before you realize it’s better to say “no” to their job. But there are ways to filter inquiries that save you and your prospects a great deal of wasted energy, which allows you to focus on clients who are a better fit, and which allows those unsuitable prospects to get on with finding a more appropriate designer.

A questionnaire is essential. It should be the first thing on your mind when an approach is made because its completion will give you a detailed understanding of your potential client’s specific design needs.
