The title of this chapter isn’t exactly true. “Everyone” isn’t out to get you, but a lot of people are. This isn’t fear marketing, it’s the truth, and if you aren’t prepared, you’re site will get hacked. Not all hacks are created equal; some inject some advertising material into your content, some hackers are after your user data, and others are going to try and take your site down. It doesn’t matter if your site is powered by WordPress or another software, every content management system (CMS) is vulnerable in some way, and it’s usually because of user error. The good news is that you’re about to learn how to protect yourself and keep your site and your users safe.
